Hotel Duquesa de Cardona has one of the bests locations you can get in the city: in front of the port, and just few minutes walk to Ramblas and Gothic Quarter.

Barcelona’s port vell ( old port) has undergona a far-reaching transformation in recent years. What was once a port area with many moored ships, two yacht clubs and cargo warehouses, is now one of the foremost shpping areas in the city.
The Port Vell is formed by three wharves: Moll de la Fusta, Moll d’Espanya and Moll de la Barceloneta. Moll de la Fusta, where a wall stood in the 16th century , is a space that is now divided into two areas: the lower part is a promenade with benches and palms where the stone pavement of the old wharf has been preserved and boats still moor, while the upper part forms a spacious balcony overlooking the Mediterranean. From Moll de la Fusta you can see the Maremagnum complex at Moll d’Espanya as well as the Moll de Barcelona, which forms the broad promenade called Passeig Joan de Borbó, flanked by a large number of cafés and restaurants. All the many warehouses and shps that once occupied this wharf where demolished in 1992 to make room for the promenade. if you walk along the seaside promenade at night, you can see one of its particularly interesting features, a work of art by Mario Metz that is formed by a set of skylights installed over neon lights. At the end of the promenade stands the Torre de Sant Sebastià, one of the two towers of the cable car line that connects Montjuic hill with the port of Barcelona. Between these two points, the cable cars cover a difference in heigh of 99 metres along a route measuring 815 metres, with a halt at Moll de Barcelona. This wharf is the site of the World Trade Center, the city’s larguest business and services complex, which is shaped like a gigantic ocean liner and stands out from all the other buildings in the Port Vell area.
