Picasso, few days before spending his holidays in Málaga in 1896, he moved into an appartment at 3 Mercé street, at the back of the hotel. He rented as well a studio at 4 Plata Street. Here, with only fifteen years Picasso already had an own workshop and created, in 1897, his first famous painting , Science and Charity. Something in our area has to do also with Picasso's work: "Les mademoiselles d'Avignon" is inspired on the working girls in the street Avinyó, on the gothic area.

Our most universal writer, Sir Miguel de Cervantes, passed some nights in Passeig Colom 2. This experience probably inspired him to include Barcelona, its port and beach in the famous book. Actually, a copy from the 1880 of this famous book is in our lobby.
What about a promenade?
