The Aquarium of Barcelona is just in front of our hotel.
The main draw here is the Oceanari, a giant shark-infested tank traversed via a glass tunnel on a slow-moving conveyor belt, but other aquaria house shoals of kaleidoscopic fish. The upstairs section is devoted to children: for pre-schoolers, Explora! has 50 knobs-and-whistles activities, such as turning a crank to see how ducks' feet move or climbing inside a mini-submarine, though much of the equipment is looking a bit the worse for wear.
Older children should head to Planet Aqua, an extraordinari split-level circular space with Humboldt penquins.
